Foundation Chair’s fundraiser is a work of art
The chair of Shropshire Community Foundation has raised an incredible amount through an art exhibition in a tiny county village.
Selina Graham (as High Sheriff of Shropshire for 2022/23) held the event in Willey, between Telford and Bridgnorth, which attracted more than 1,000 people across four days.
Almost 300 works of arts were sold, meaning the event raised more than £160,000 – to be split between the Shropshire Community Foundation and Alzheimer’s Society, a charity close to Selina’s heart as her father had the disease.
Foundation Trustee Dean Harris said: “Part of the funding will go towards immediate needs in the county, while the rest will be put into an existing permanent endowment fund for the longer-term benefits of particular communities in Shropshire.
“Huge congratulations to Selina and the committee who put an immense amount of work into making this event the incredible success it was! This money will make such a difference to people in need in the county.”
