Shropshire’s biggest construction company, award-winning McPhillips (Wellington) Ltd, is committed to making a positive impact on the communities it serves.

Working in partnership with Shropshire Community Foundation, the McPhillips Community Fund has been established to support local organisations and initiatives that promote positive mental health and wellbeing across Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin.

The fund has been designed to support innovative projects, services, and initiatives that empower people to improve their mental health, reduce social isolation, and promote long-term well-being.

Successful projects must primarily benefit people aged 18 years and over who are experiencing mental health issues, such as depression, anxiety, or social isolation.

Priority will be given to initiatives that engage with marginalised or underserved groups, including people from low-income backgrounds, rural communities, ethnic minorities, or those facing additional barriers to accessing mental health services.

Projects should aim to improve the mental health and wellbeing of people through one or more of the following:

  • Counselling and therapeutic support.
  • Peer support groups.
  • Workshops and training focused on coping strategies.
  • Physical activity initiatives designed to enhance mental and emotional well-being.
  • Employment and skills development programs that boost confidence and reduce social isolation.

“We’ve woven social value into the very fabric of our work which is why we are launching this fund with Shropshire Community Foundation.

“It will ensure that the benefits of our success are shared with those communities, groups and organisations which most need our support and will ultimately help build a stronger region which is good for all of us.”
