Shropshire Investors In Community Members Dinner 2024

On 25 April, we held a dinner to thank the Shropshire Investors in Community (IIC) members for their support of the foundation over the past year. It was a fantastic evening, and was so lovely to see so many faces that we have been working closely with over the year.

The event was kindly sponsored by Weatherbys Bank, and Hatfields also helped to make the evening possible.

Along with our IIC members, trustees and team members, we were joined by Anna Turner, Lord-Lieutenant of Shropshire and Brian Welti JP, The High Sheriff of Shropshire.

Pitchford Hall

We would like to thank our hosts Rowena and James Nason, owners of Pitchford Hall. Pitchford Hall is Grade I listed and one of England’s finest Elizabethan houses, featuring the oldest treehouse in the world first mentioned in 1692. Royalty have been infrequent guests, sometimes on pleasant vacations and sometimes on more urgent business. Boasting architectural oddities, wandering cigar-smoking ghosts and the weight of centuries, there’s plenty to discover on the Pitchford Estate. Find out more here.

Food and Drink

TV chef, Marcus Bean, and his team created a locally sourced menu and canapes for the evening, which were carefully paired with wines by Tanners Wine Merchants. Dishes included:

  • Rosemary and garlic focaccia bread with whipped butter
  • Whipped goats’ cheese, candied & red beetroot, apple, watermelon, frisee & nut brittle
  • Shropshire Venison black pepper & juniper crust, dauphinoise potato, celeriac puree, Wye valley asparagus, braised carrot, crispy shallot & Shrewsbury sauce
  • Dark chocolate & salted caramel delice, vanilla Chantilly & chocolate crumble

Shropshire based Marcus Bean is an award-winning chef whose passion for food has inspired a career teaching in cookery schools across the UK and led to a variety of TV appearances including ITV’s This Morning and hosting food shows across the country.

The evening was absolutely fantastic, and we can’t wait to do the same again with our IIC members in 2025!
